Prof. Ivane Abiatari

Prof. Ivane Abiatari is a qualified General Surgeon. He completed his medical education in Tbilisi. In 2004 he continued his studies at the Ph.D. level at the University of Heidelberg, European Pancreas Center (Germany). From 2007, his research and clinical work were continued at the Technical University of Munich (Germany). In 2010, Prof. Abiatari defended his Ph.D. thesis within the joint doctoral program of I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and the Technical University of Munich. From 2007 to 2013, he worked as a Postdoc at the University Hospital of Klinikum rechts der Isar (Technical University of Munich). Since 2013, Ivane Abiatari has been an Associate Professor at Ilia State University. In 2018, he became the director of the Institute of Medical and Public Health Research, and since 2020 he has been appointed as the head of the School of Medicine. Under his supervision, Ilia State University operates an English-language MD educational program and an English-language Ph.D. program in medicine. He holds a Specialist Certificate in Medical Education (AMEE).
