Join us in Tbilisi !
On behalf of the local organizing committee, we are delighted to welcome you to our home city for the 15th European Digestive Surgery meeting, which will take place on April 20-22, 2023, at the Axis Towers, a landmark building of modern Tbilisi.
The board of EDS and the local organizing committee have put together a program, covering a combination of cutting-edge topics and traditional issues in digestive surgery, that will be delivered by high-profile speakers from Europe and beyond, as well as a representation of the dynamic Georgian surgical community. All fields of digestive medicine will be addressed to offer a learning experience as broad as possible to our delegates. A special session will be dedicated to honoring exceptional masters from whom we have all learned magistral lessons in surgery.
The meeting will take place thanks to the support and partnership of Ilia State University, a leading research and educational academic institution in Georgia. The faculty of the School of Medicine of Ilia State University has been instrumental in the organization of the scientific and social programs and will be largely involved as speakers in the teaching program.
We are proud to host this meeting in Tbilisi, a modern and bustling city, undergoing rapid modernization around the traditional streets and buildings of its millennial old town, in which you will enjoy strolling in the pleasant spring climate. Georgia is a country of ancient history and traditions, art, literature, and architecture. It is also a country renowned for its wonderful cuisine, exemplified by the several signature national dishes that you will have the opportunity to enjoy with great relish. Last but not least, Georgia is acknowledged as the “cradle of wine,” with evidence of vinification dating back over 8000 years and the ancient method of “qvevri” (earthenware jars) winemaking inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage !
We trust that Tbilisi will be a memorable venue for the delegates and teaching faculty in a remarkable environment that will allow the blending of science and networking opportunities with art, history and gastronomy !
Welcome to Tbilisi, and enjoy the meeting !
