Prof. Guillaume Meurette

Professor of visceral surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Geneva, Switzerland

Prof. Guillaume Meurette studied medicine at the University of Lille, France, where he graduated in 1997. He trained in general surgery residency in Nantes, France, and Paris St Antoine between 1997 and 2002. Then he specialized in colorectal surgery at the University Hospitals of Brussels (Belgium) and obtained European certification as a specialist in coloproctology surgery in 2010 (ESBQ). Prof. Meurette was appointed Consultant surgeon at the University Hospitals of Nantes in 2008. He developed the Division of Digestive surgery’s surgical activities in colorectal surgery, proctology, and pelvic floor disorders. In parallel, he obtained his Ph.D. degree for his research on Sacral Neuromodulation and Inflammatory digestive disorders at the INSERM-UMR Lab (The Enteric Nervous System, TENS Nantes France). Professor Meurette was appointed Professor of visceral surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of Nantes in 2015 and at the Faculty of Medicine of Geneva in 2022. He has been the president of the French society of coloproctology from 2019-2022. Prof. Meurette has published over 141 articles and book chapters, and his h-index is at 28.
