Dr. Isabella Frigerio

Consultant Surgeon in Pancreatic Surgical Unit, Verona, Italy.

The activities of Dr. Isabella Frigerio focus on pancreatic surgery, with more than 500 pancreatic resections performed during her career, other than 1500 general surgery operations. Work experience includes several humanitarian missions in the Balcanic area, Sierra Leone, and Burundi. She is currently involved in clinical research and oncological trials. Dr. Frigerio completed a Ph.D. in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic diseases in 2013 at the University of Verona, reporting the largest experience on RFA in advanced pancreatic carcinoma. Since 2012 she has been an active member of the European Digestive Surgery (EDS) Society, which focuses its surgical education programs in Eastern Europe and represents the same Society at the UEG meeting of members (2019-2022).

In 2015 Dr. Frigerio co-founded the first Italian Association of women surgeons (WIS Italia) and, in 2020, the Association of Women Leaders in Healthcare (LEADS). Since 2017 she has led the

Fellowship Program in Pancreatic Surgery at the Pederzoli Hospital and exported this experience to a larger program of Surgical Oncology led by the Italian Association of Surgical Oncology. In 2021 she was nominated Secretary General Elect of E-AHPBA and started her role in the International Relations Committee of the American College of Surgeons (Scholarship and Education). Since 2020 Dr. Frigerio is the Associated Editor of AISjournal, the official journal of WIS Italia, the first journal totally focused on AI surgery and Digestive Surgery.

Her principal interests are pancreatic surgery, the multidisciplinary approach to pancreatic cancer, AIS, surgical oncology, education in surgery, and the role of women surgeons worldwide.
